My Sewing History
My love of quilts began as a child. My mother is a seamstress and she taught me to sew. I fell in love with quilts early on. When I was about 9, she and I would go to the church behind our house to sit at the quilting frame to visit with the other ladies. It can be so peaceful, sitting at the frame focusing on each stitch and listening to the talk. We worked on a community quilt around that same time. I was so proud of my two blocks. I made a stop sign and a yield sign, both appliqué with a little embroidery for the letters.
About 6 years ago, I began making my own quilts. I started several projects over the years, but got distracted by other things and set those projects aside. It may have been those cardboard templates, or my patience level that got in the way of finishing. The first quilted item I completed was a table runner for my sister-in-law. It was an original birthday party design to help decorate for the children’s parties. I have been designing quilts ever since. I love the fabric and the colors and how each shade will play off another. I find color combinations inspire more designs than any other thing.
I have been giving away many of my quilts to family members. With a little coaxing from my sisters, I am now offering my designs to you. I hope my patterns inspire you to create and bring you the same feeling of peace and quiet I found at that old quilting frame.
